Don't you love these cover illustrations by Frank Endersby? I Prayed for You was the first book I did with this illustrator, and I was excited when the editors at HarperCollins asked me to do two more: Grandma Prays for You and You're My Dream Come True.
It's fun writing the rhyming text for these Precious Moments board books. When my editor friends at HarperCollins asked me to work on this series, I felt nostalgic for the years when I worked on Precious Moments products as an editor for Golden Books. I've written almost a dozen of these little gems. My Bible Songbook is most recent. Stay tuned for more in this series.
I enjoy writing assignments that challenge me to dig into history. The Courageous Girls Series published by Barbour's Shiloh Kidz is one of my favorites. Each book features stories of Christian women who accomplished great things. 100 Extraordinary Stories for Courageous Girls, first in the series, was a finalist in the 2020 ECPA Christian Book Awards. 100 Extraordinary Stories of Prayer for Courageous Girls is the second book in the series. Two more, She Believed— 12 Stories of Courageous Women of Faith Who Changed the World, and She Prayed—12 Stories of Extraordinary Women of Faith Who Changed the World followed.
I'm most well known for my children's books, but I like writing for adults, too. Writing Joy on My Heart, published by Barbour, is the first in a series of themed 6-week Bible studies. Check out others in this series: Writing Courage on My Heart and Writing Gratitude on My Heart.
Sometimes, I'm asked by publishers to work as a consultant or writer on books they're creating with celebrities. I've done projects with Sheila Walsh, Sarah Young, Thomas Kinkade, John C. Maxwell, and others. I've collaborated with editors from Harper-Collins on children's books by country music singer/songwriter, Brett Young and popular interior design blogger, dubbed "Queen of Cozy", Liz Galvan.
